Anathema: Legacy by Nick Roberts A Great Sequel!

In “Anathema: Legacy,” Nick Roberts delivers a haunting continuation of his 2020 novel “Anathema,” once again drawing readers into the spine-chilling nightmare of Derrick Stockton. With masterful prose, Roberts skillfully evokes the same pervasive sense of dread and horror that gripped audiences in the original book. This sequel immerses readers in a dark and thrilling narrative that lingers long after the final page.

A Bloody New Nightmare

The story follows Derrick, now 25 and an integral part of his AA meeting. He has worked hard to get his life together, finally finding stability in sobriety. However, his newfound peace is shattered when detectives approach him to investigate the murder of his former therapist. All the clues point to the demon from his past—Maren, a figure he believed had been dead for two decades. As Derrick grapples with the trauma of his past and the resilience he has built, he is forced to confront the malevolent forces that threaten to consume him once again. The investigation pulls him deeper into his memories, challenging everything he has fought for and forcing him to navigate the dark corners of his history to uncover the truth.

Roberts really knocked it out of the park again. Anathema was one of my favorite books in recent memory, and Anathema: Legacy perfectly continued the dark and deranged tone established in that first meeting with Maren. It was thrilling to see Maren unleashed on a bigger crowd this time, as she created multiple houses of horror. The way the narrative delves into themes of trauma and resilience while she confronts the malevolent forces around her keeps the tension high and the stakes real. It’s a gripping exploration of what it means to face one’s demons, both literally and metaphorically.

I came down with the flu this week and it did not stop me from finishing this book quickly. The pacing of “Anathema: Legacy” really grabs you and makes it hard to stop reading. It’s incredible how a captivating story can keep you so hooked, even being under the weather Each chapter really does make you want to keep turning the pages! It’s such a nice escape, especially when you’re not feeling great.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I absolutely loved this book, just as I’ve adored every Nick Roberts novel I’ve read so far. I highly recommend that anyone who hasn’t yet picked up “Anathema” do so now! And definitely grab “Anathema: Legacy” afterward because you won’t be disappointed.
